CHRISTMAS FITNESS!

Hey girls - Coach Turgeon completely forgot to update this that Wednesday of exams......so here ya go!

The following fitness assignments must be done over the remaining break. You must chart your times and show to Coach Turgeon when you did the running and what your time was. You can do these fitness assignments whenever you want between now (12/27) and when we come back from break.

#1 = one mile run. Run as fast as you can. Record you time. Finish with 50 situps and pushups.

#2 = one mile and a 1/2 run. Run as fast as you can. Record your time. Finish with 50 situps and pushups.

#3 = run 5 400 m. sprints (400 m. is one lap around the track). You must run consecutively. The first lap is a jog/warm-up. Then you run your first 400 m. sprint. The next lap is a jog at 50%. The next lap is your second 400 m. sprint. Follow up with another jog at 50%. Continue this process until you get to your fifth and final 400 m. sprint. After you are done with this lap, you are done. Record your time with a running clock - the time should start with your first sprint and continue timing through your 50% laps and finish on the final sprint.

#4 = run 2 800 m. sprints. Begin by jogging a lap. Sprint your first 800 m. (two laps around the track). The next lap should be a 50% jog. When you are done complete your final 800 m. sprint. Game 6 Recap: Cardinal Gibbons 52, Pinecrest 36

Cardinal Gibbons played its best all-around game of the season thus far in defeating Pinecrest 52-36 on Friday evening. The Crusaders defense forced the Patriots into 14 turnovers during a 17-0 run in the second quarter. Catherine Todd led the way for Gibbons with 23 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Maggie Tardif shot 4 out of 5 from three-point range and finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds, her second double-double of the season. The Crusaders, who improve to 2-4 with the victory, had an amazing 17 assists on the 22 made field goals scored during the game, including assists by nine different players. Following a three-week break in the game schedule due to the Christmas holiday, Gibbons will return to the court on January 5th, when they host Durham Academy.

Game 5 Recap: Jordan 42, Cardinal Gibbons 30

Cardinal Gibbons was defeated by Jordan on Wednesday evening by a score of 42-30. A strong first quarter put the Crusaders on top 8-2 heading into the second. Gibbons maintained a one point lead at halftime, but the Falcons rallied with a strong second half for the comeback victory. For the first time this season, the Crusaders had two double figure scorers, as Maggie Tardif tallied 13 points and Catherine Todd had 11. Gibbons, whose record stands at 1-4, will host Pinecrest on Friday evening in the final game before the semester break.

Game 4 Recap: Cary Academy 36, Cardinal Gibbons 31

Cardinal Gibbons fell to 1-3 on the season with a 36-31 loss to Cary Academy on Tuesday. The Crusaders got off to a slow start, trailing 11-2 after the first quarter, but then rallied with a strong second quarter to take a 15-14 lead into halftime. The game stayed close throughout the second half, but the Chargers (4-1) pulled away late in the fourth quarter for the victory. Maggie Tardif led Gibbons posting a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, and also leading the team with four steals. Megan Summers did a superb job of ball handling and had no turnovers against the Cary Academy pressure defense.

Game 3 Recap: Cardinal Gibbons 30, Broughton 23

Cardinal Gibbons recorded its first victory of the season with a 30-23 win at Broughton on Friday to avenge its season opening loss to the Capitals. Paris Pope led the way with 12 points, including several key baskets in the deciding fourth quarter. With the game tied at 20, Maggie Tardif hit a three-pointer from the corner to give the Crusaders a lead that they would keep the rest of the way. The Gibbons defense forced Broughton into 40 turnovers, and had 19 steals, led by Catherine Todd with six. Next up is a home game against Cary Academy on Tuesday.
